A dedicated network asset and inventory management solution that integrates with Salesforce CRM can streamline business processes better. Here we discuss how a large auction website used network asset inventory tracking with Salesforce CRM to channelize their sales better.
Goal/Problem
The IT department of an enterprise-grade auction website with a global internal server network needed a way to track all of the internal inventory of their network, including circuits, servers, etc.
Solution Implemented
We implemented a custom force.com Salesforce platform that allowed them to record all of their assets, the locations of their assets, the connections of assets, and the costs of assets. They can track all warranty information, service contracts and their expirations, support contacts for all assets and locations, the total cost, monthly recurring cost, etc. With some very custom visualforce, we then created a page to view their entire network of circuits across the globe displayed over a google map showing their circuit connections between all the locations and navigating into the locations and circuit information easily. Also built a visualforce page that displays a cabinet in a server room so you can visually see all the hardware installed in a cabinet and click on each piece to view information, as well as view the detailed ports on the front and back and what ports are in use and what they are connected to.
